I’ve been making pictures for a long time. It was only in about 2000 that I began to do so intentionally. I began thinking of series of pictures that relate together in meaningful ways to me. In 2010 I returned to school to get a formal education in the arts, thinking it may help me. I’m not sure that it did. My attention is most drawn to things that are overlooked, or that we intentionally choose not to look at. These are mostly the things that push us out of balance and compel us to think and act differently. Photography is something I do every day. It sustains me and wears on me. Most days it wears on me.
